CONDITIONS FOR NURSES
LATE LEAVE FOR DANCES Functions At Hospital Press Association—Copyright. Wanganui, May 22. A committee appointed by the Wangianui Hospital Board to inquire into the working hours and conditions. of nurses at the Wanganui Hospital submitted several recommendations which were adopted at a meeting of the board. In future dance and late leave for nurses is to be granted regul/arly each month, in addition to which nurses will be permitted occasional dances wi'.hin the hospital precincts, to which friends may be invited conditionally on no intoxicating liquor being allowed in the. ground® or consumed in cars outside. While suggesting that the report should be adopted, the chairman, Mr W. E. Broderick, who was cMairmaji of the committee, said at the meeting that nothing of a drastic nature had ’ prompted the committee’s being • formed. Several minor matters had been investigated, however, and he thought the new proposals would mean a happier stlaff and would, benefit the institution generally. Statements were made before the committee by various members called from the nursing staff and ranging from the matron to a second-year nurse. The chairman added that it was agreed by all who gave evidence that the working’ hours.* and; conditions had considerably improved.
