WOMEN’S TOURNEY Stratford Old Girls’ Win The tournament held iat EL tham Women’s Hockey Club on Saturday was won by the Stratford Old Girls’ team, who defeated New Plymouth A in the final by two goals to nil, Miss B. Watkins scoring botih of them. The teams were:— Stratford Old Girls A: Misses E. Reeves, G. Btrown, B. Watkins, M. Foley, M. Young, J. Jensen and A. Clements. New Plymouth A: Misses Stella Brough, D. Cleverly, D. Jones, K. Berry, F. Frewin, R. Eagles, J. Hutchinson.

Play was fairly even in the first half, New Plymouth showing superior combination, but Stratford gained, well with hard hitting and after a struggle alt the goal-mouth, Miss B. Watkins neatly found the nett. On changing over New Plymouth pressed hard but without result. After halftime Stratford attacked strongly and !m!ss Watkins again goaled neatly. I Other promising attacks followed, I both Miss Watkins and Miss Young i figuring, but no further score was | made. New Plymouth tried hard to i get within striking range but the ef- | forts were brilliantly muffled by Miss I Brown, who played an inspired game. SOUTH TARANAKI Men’s Competition Northern Senior.
