REASON FOR DISMISSAL “CERTAIN SECRET MATTERS” Commissioner Issues Further Statement Press Association —CoDYTIgDt. (Received 11.5 a.m i London, May 23. Following ’jhe dismissal from the Salvation Army if Henry Mapp, Chief of Staff since 1929, writs have been served on General Evangeline Booth and also on big successor, Commissioner John McMillan. Commissioner Mapp has issued a further statement, declaring that the real reason for his dismissal was a letter to Evangeline Booth on March 16, in which he requested to be allowed to retire on account of ill-health. She terminated his Chief of Staff but Commissioner Mapp contends that this did not affect his rank as Comissioner or his office as an officer. There' would have been no public scandal had not General Booth decided on disciplinary action on the basis of unproved allegations.
