Observance Of Anzac Day Press Association—Copyright. Palmerston North, ’May 21. “Nothing is wider of the mark than that Anzac Day belong 8 to the returned soldiers,” .stated Mr B. J. Jacobs, president, at the annual meet. n.g of the Palmerston North branch the Returned Soldiers’ Association, when replying to a question relative to the suggestion made ia*t a neeting of the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association that Anzac Day be not observed as a holiday. “However, we should be the first to protect it against any suggestion to change the day. I am sincerely hope, iul that R.S.A. will forever set up a combined front to have Anzac Day observed on April 25 for all time, and as a holy day—not as a holiday. We are unanimous in that opinion at headquarters, and we will fight it to the last ditch.’ ” The meeting was fully in actord with the speaker, and it was unani mously decided that the delegates to ihe annual conference, 'to be held in Wellington next mon It, be empowered to support any steps s-ken to pro tect Anzac Day.
