N.Z. CRICKETERS MATCH WITH OXFORD First Innings’ Lead Secured By Tourists (From the special correspondent ot the United Press Association with the team). Received May 21, 10,5 a.m. Oxford, May 20. The New Zealanders found something approaching real form to-day, when, taking advantage of the perfect wicket, they secured a first innings’ lead before lunch, taking only two hours to score 160. New Zealand scored 335 in the first innings. Oxford in the second innings had scored 162 for 5 wickets when stumps were drawn for the day. The New Zealand batting was confident and aggressive throughout. After Moloney had been caught in the slips, Wallace and Donnelly brightly added 96 in 50 minutes. Wallace was brilliant, scoring in every part of the field with clean, strong strokes. He hit 14 fours. Donnelly waited for a loose ball and then cracked it heartily. He secured seven boundaries. Gallichan and Roberts scored 54 together in 40 minutes, the former driving powerfully, hitting seven fours. Dunning and Roberts, in a good ninth wicket partnership, added 66 in 40 minutes. Roberts added 22 more for the last wicket. Roberts gave a fine display in front of the wicket. The accuracy of the New Zealand attack compelled the University to take three hours to score 162 rung, and even subdued the brilliant Kimpton. Detailed scores are as follow: OXFORD. First Innings.
