ALFONSO’S ELDEST SON EX-KING SEVERS RELATIONS Count Covadanga And His Remarriage Press Association —Copyright. Received May 21, 11.50 a.m. Rome, May 20. Ex-King Alfonso has severed relations with his eldest son, Count Covadonga. An official statement says that Count Covadonga’s public assertions that he still considers himself the legitimate heir to the Spanish Crown have caused real anguish to Alfonso. The Royal Family considers the assertions more grave, as all Spanish citizens should concern themselves solely with the destiny of the Fatherland and the re-establishment of order and peace. There is an additional cause for deep grief to his Majesty in Court Covadonga’s plan to remarry, which could never be approved of by the Royal Household, as this would be absolutely in conflict with the Catholic faith and the laws of the Fatherland. His Majesty, therefore, is painfully compelled to sever all relations with Count Covadonga, believing that this action will interpret the sentiments of all Spanish Catholics and Monarchists.
