HOUSING SCHEME

Land Purchase At Otahuhu Press Association—Copyright Auckland, May 19. The purchase of the Sturges Estate at Otahuhu by the Government in connection with the na'tional housing scheme has been completed,, according to advice received by the Mayor of Otahuhu, Mr Petrie, M.P. He was advised by telegram from the Parliamentary Under-Secretary, Mr J. A. Lee, (hat the Cabinet had approved the purchase of the estate comprising 52 sections. The area acquired is regarded as one of the best residential blocks in the Otahuhu borough. The estate was subdivided and roaded several years ago and a large number of residences have been built under private enterprise. The property acquired by the State comprises the balance of the unsold sections.
