CRICKET TEAM’S TOUR
OXFORD MATCH • - UNIVERSITY’S FIRST INNINGS New Zealanders Not Yet At True Form
(From the special correspondent United Press Association with the team.) (Received 10.5 a.m.) Oxford, May 19. Great bowling by Cowie enabled the New Zealanders to accomplish a very creditable performance in dismissing Oxford University on a plumb wicket in four hours. Oxford in the first innings scored) 251. New Zealand had compiled 91 for the loss of four wickets when. £ Lumps were drlawn for the day. The weather was dull and warm. In an earnest endeavour to eradicate weaknesses revealed at Cardiff, the New Zealanders practised assiduously for half an hour immediately after breakfast before the opening of play to-day. The accuracy of Roberts' and Gallichan kept the scoring down. Dunning was effective after lunch, when Moloney’s high tossed slows enticed another victim to his stumping doom. Tindill kept wickets ably, not allowing a bye till past 200. The fielding was alert; Carson taking a good catch in the slips, and Vivian another at mid-on. Kimpton, the Australian, played -delightfully for an hour, hitting eleven fours. Singleton was also attractive. Dixon, who was first in andi last out, stonewalled for four hours.Although Moloney and Kerr added 50 for the second wicket, the New Zealand innings again wavered. Moloney at present is the only batsman showing true New Zealand form.
