SERIOUS ACCIDENT

Goods Train Driver In Stratford Hospital The driver of the goods train from Stratford to New Plymouth yesterday morning, Mr Samuel Bennett, of New Plymouth, received serious injuries through catching his right hand in the forks of the railway tablet when the train was approaching the Tariki station. He was attended to by Dr. I. E. Faris, of Inglewood, and removed to the Stratford Hospital, where it was found necessary to amputate the hand above the wrist. Mr Bennett is a very old member of the railway service, this year being his fortieth as an engine driver.
