CAR BOUGHT FOR £1 Source Of Revenue To State ‘ The car seems to be o£ value by being a source of revenue to the State,” commented Mr W. 11. Woodward, S.M., in the Stratford Magistrate's Court to-day, when it was revealed that the defendant, Coliu Wilson Jury, who was changed with failing to notify change of ownership of a motor car and also with issuing an unstamped receipt on a resale transaction, had purchased the car for £1 from L. H. Johnson Motors, Ltd., which firm was also .charged with failing to notify the change of ownership. Sergeant C. M. Anniss said that Jury bought the car for £.l and resold it for £7 10s to a man named Betteridge. He received a deposit of £2 15s, for which he gave an unstamped receipt. For failing to stamp the receipt, Jury was fined 10s (costs 10s), and for failing to notify change of ownership he was fined 20s (costs 10s). For a similar offence in respect of another car he was convicted and discharged.' L. H. Johnson Motors, L'd., was convicted and ordered to pay costs 10 s. No number plates. Gilbert John Hamerten, who drove a motor qar without having number plates affixed, was convicted and I discharged. i William Albert Dickson, for a | similar offence, was convlc'ed and I fined 10s (costs 10s). I Raymond Watson, for failing to ' notify change of ownership of a motor car, was finf-d 10s (exists 10s).
