MINING DISPUTE

No Work At Huntly Press Association—Copyright. Auckland, May 18. In an effort to settle the Huntly mine dispute the Minister of Mines, Hon. P. C. Webb, visited Huntly tonight and met representatives of the union and the managers, of the collieries concerned. The conference lasted two hours and terminated when Mr Webb had to leave hurriedly to ea ch the limited; express for Wellington w’hich had been specially held up at'Huntly for him.- He had no time in which to make a statement to the Press. Mr Hutchinson, for the union, had nothing to say except that a deadlock had been reached and that there would be no work at the mine to.morrow. He said meetings, would be held at each of the mining settlements and the deliberations of the conference would be discussed with the men.
