Former Police Constable’s Death Press Association—Copyright. Auckland, May 17. Collapsing at the wheel of his motor-car at Putaruru this atternon, Mr J. F. Murphy, formerly a wellknown police constable, died almost immediately. Mr Murphy was 64 years of age. He retired from the police force only last November. The car which Mr Murphy was driving was travelling at only a moderate speed, but it crashed into the back of a stationary car owned by the present constable in charge at Putaruru. Constable Cotter, whose small child was thrown from the seat but was not injured. -
