Replanting of King Edward Park The Stratford Domain Board met | last night. Present were: The Mayor, | Mr J. W. McMillan, Councillors A. 11. I Nelson, C. R. Finnerty, C. Speck, A. |H. Trotter,. W. E. Williams, T. Law- ' son. R. F. Harkness, W. P. P. Gordon ! and Mr H. C. Johnson. f In his report the caretaker, Mr E. jP. Blanchard, advised that approxii mately 120 trees would be required | for the replanting of the Brecon Road I area of King Edward Park. The men were at present engaged on cleaning around the trees and digging out the dead trees. He considered that before any further planting was done several loads of black soil should be procured to give the young trees a better start as the ground was very porous owing to decaying pine roots. Mr Blanchard asked the board to state his position in regard to cleaning the grandstand and ground after football matches. Cr Gordon and Mr Johnson were appointed to select trees for replanting in the Park. Black soil will be obtained from the new sportsground and replaced later if required from the baths excavation. Tt was considered that the cleaning of the ground after matches should be done by the Rugby Union. After a report by Mr F. Bowler on the condition of the motor mower had been read the Board decided to secure prices for a mower. The annual report of the operations of the Board for the year ended March 31 showed receipts: Grants-in-aid, £lOO6 18s 6d; rents of reserves or pastures, £69 15s; foolball. £44 5s IC-d, grandstand, £7O 8s 6d; hockey Club 12s and £2 4s 3d. Croquet Club £1 10s, cricket club £2 15s, camp site £lB 15s, Athletic Club £2 17s 9d, donation £1 Is. Payments were: Material and tools £ll 9s 2d. labour £603 6s sd, maintenance £468, extra labour £lOO 7s lOd, tools etc., £5 Gs 4d. mower £2O 13s, purchase of trees, seed etc. £l9 8s sd, sundry £36 19s Ed, insurance £l4 6s Id. cottage £27 7s lid, swing bridge £2 17s, subscription £1 Is.
