PARKS STAFFING

Request For Extra Labour “I find that it is impossible to carry on the work with satisfaction with the present staff, consisting of one man and myself,” stated Mr E. P. Blanchard, Domains Caretaker, in his report to last night’s meeting of the board. “Previous to my taking over the position of caretaker, there were three permanent men, besides casual labour employed, to carry out the work satisfactorily. Now. as the work is increasing each year it 1r impossible for me to do justice to the parks and Domain Board under these conditions,” he added. Cr. A. H. Nelson said the time had arrived when something should be done. “I say quite frankly that you cannot afford another man on the park,” said the Mayor, Mr J. W. McMillan. It was resolved that the council could not see its way to engage additional staffing.
