I have sent a few works to be read at the ceremony. It was my greatest regret during myi visit in 1934 that I was unable to see the coast where Dampier landed in 1688 and 1697. “Dampier was a. very keen observer and essentially truthful, as those who have followed him have found. He h,a a delighted seven generations of reaiirY.”
