TRIAL TEAMS

Taranaki Representative Rugby The first step in the selection of a Taranaki representative Rugby team to-meet Wellington, Wanganui, Auckland and finally South Africa within the next ten weeks was taken by the Taranaki Selection committee, Messrs. W. A. Guy (Okaiawa), C. Brown (New Plymouth) and L. Hunt (Patea) during the week-end, when teams for a trial game at Eltham on Wednesday were chosen at a meeting at Hawera. A total of 46 players will take part In play during the afternoon. As far as possible the Taranaki team, once chosen, will be kept together, it is understood. In the selection of the trial teams three players who would not be available on Wednesday were omitted. They are J. Armstrong (Clifton), C. O’Dowda (T’ukapa) and G. Sangster (Clifton). The teams are:— Probables. Full-back: A. Richards (Opunake). Three-quarters: E. Smith (Athletic), C. Paterson (Kaponga), G. Martin (Hawera). Five-eighths: Nigel Hunter (Hawera, second), P. Bourke (Patea, first). Half-back: T. Guy (Hawera). Back row: A. Richards (Patea). Middle row: L. George (Hawera), Coull (Kaponga), W. Ruakere (Opunake), W. Edwards (Patea).
