Tha Acting Minister for Defence, stated to-day that he was making inquiries into charges said to have been made by Lady Kingsford Smith in Honolulu, to the effect that the Australian Government had failed to appreciate her husband’s contributions, had failed to give support to make his flights less hazardous, and had failed to show appreciation of his sacrifice after Sir Charles had perished. The Acting Minister for Defence said he was trying to communicate with Lady Kingsford Smith to ascertain whether she had been correctly reported. Lady Kingsford Smith is travelling in the Monterey to New York.
