Flying Officer Donald AshtonShorter, a Townsville pilot, was killed while giving a display of aerobatics at the Ross River Aerodrome to-day. He had reached a height of 1500 feet to perform a power nose dive. He then dived about 1000 feet, and when he tried to straighten the machine the wings collapsed.
