WOMEN’S TOPICS.

Social and Personal Mrs R. Sandom entertained some friends a.t bridge on Monday night at her residence in Portia Street. It was a farewell gathering, us Mrs Sandom is leaving shortly. The hostess received her guests' in a smart amethyst ring velvet gown, and large bronze chrysanthemums and iceland poppies decorated the drawing room. Those playing were: Mesd.'amee L. G. Pope, C. Simons, R, Strachen, R. R. Tyrer, S. McGregor, A. G« McKenzie and Brookes.

The Portland Auction Bridge Club members were entertained by Mrs L> J. Jardine at her residence in East Road on Monday afternoon. The drawing room was effectively decorated' with autumn leave® and yellow African daisies 'and roses. She was wearing a black panne velvet frock with coatee. Those playing were: Mesdames A. Coleman. L. J. Furrie, D. J. Malone, P. D. Jefferies; J. B. Richards, R. Curtis and H. Heslopp.

The girls’ choir of Holy Trinity l Church organised a very enjoyable social evening and dance at the end of the week. Mist' Woods was in charge of the undertaking. Mr s H. Heslop kindly played the music for the dancing. Those present were: Misses Merle Rowell, Noaline Wells, Dorothea Lindop, Shirley Jefferies.', Valerie Dunnet, Constance Thomson. Barbara Williams, Nancy land Fay Connor, Barbara Morgan, Davaney and Lorna Hughson. Rita Hutchings, Kathleen Petrie, Doris Aubrey, Betty White, Phyllis Fenimell, Dorothea and Betty Amess, Ailsa Aitken, Alary Marchant, Margaret McLean, Messrs J. Lindup, J. Morgan, H. Thomson, J. Anderson, B. and Q. Woolaston, R. Bingham, J. Hedditch, T. and R. Crabbe, M. "Thomson, O. Mand'«, D. Paul. S. .Hutchings, and J. Johnson A very dainty supper was served.
