SUPPORT FOR SKI COUNCIL ■ Nominations For New Zealand Team A meeting of the Stratford Mountain Club Commi tee was held last night. Mr T. Kirkwood presiding. After consideration of a circular from the New Zeal-nd Ski Council, it was decid d not to apply for approval as a Ski Club this year, but to support th© Ski Council by contributing at least £5 towards the team's fund. Messrs Brian McMillan, Bruce McMillan, Charles Ambury and Miss Beale were nominated, subject to their consent, for selection for the New Zealand ski team to visit Australia. The circular also notified clubs that no New Zealand ski chain, pionships would be held this year. It was decided to support th_ intro, duction of a ski-jump into the Taranaki championship. This mat er, together with others concerning ski.ing w-11 be discussed at tho annual meet, ing of clubs of Taranaki to-night. The posi ion of publicity officer of the Mountain Club is to include the duty of preparing the club bulletin. It wts reported that the first skiing trip of the season was a failure because of the weather. The weather also held' up a working bee called to carry fuel and locker timber to the Manganui Hut. There will be one more working bee for completing this work and then weekly ski.ing trips will probably starts
