TRAM AND MOTOR CAR
Four Hurt As Result Of Collision Press Association—Copyright. Auckland, May 9). Four persons were injured when a motor car in which they were travelling, an old model tourer, collided head on with a city-bound tram on Great South Road, near the Dilworth School, about ten minutes.' after midnight on Saturday. Three of the four in the car were thrown on to the road and all were taken to the Auckland hospital. None of the passengers in the tram was injured. The following received head' Injuries: Cyril Francis Green, aged 32, unemployed, of Ellerslie; Frederick Lindblom, aged 32, unemployed electrician, of Newton Road; Ivy Caven. e t, age<l 40, married woman, Parnell; Edna Salisbury, aged' 25, single, factory worker, Mt. Eden. The .motor car was complletely wrecked 'and so severe was the impact that the engine was forced back Several feet through the floor boards into the driver’s compartment. The bonnet and front portion were shapeless wreckage. The seats were thrown out on to the road, doors were torn off and the hood collapsed. Glass and other portions of the car were sitrewn across the road from kerb to kerb, i.-nd the vehicle was so badly broken up that it was impossible to Itow it away. It was dragged to the side of the road until the morning. Very little damage wa s done Io the tram.
