CHARGE OF MISCHIEF

Two youths Appeared before Mr J. 15 Luxford, S.M., to.day charged with committing michief by damaging a men’s shel-er, a tool box, 25 gallons of fuel oil and a container and i. n a.r Compressor. It was related, that they were mem. bers of a cycling party to Master'..™ on March 26. When h.y reached he Rimutakas rain began land they took shelter in a shed, where they lit a fire. The shelter had no chimney and they were smoked out. They shifted ■he fire outside and broke pieces off a toolbox to keep it going'. They rolled a drum of 0.l up to the tire and turned on tile tap. The tire was soon raging. The drum-exploded and an lair compressor nearby was damaged. The youths left hurriedly, bud were stopped a.t Upper Hu.t. “There is no criminality in this case,” said Mr Luxford: “The whole thing is one of those unfortuna e circumstances which sometimes occur. The case is adjournsd for a fortnight. You had better have is tarpaulin mud er and if the damage is paid for I prpose to dismiss 'he case against both of you.”
