JUNIOR RUGBY FINANCE
Request To Union For Assistance “Many of the clubs receive practically nothing in the way of gate monies, especially the Stratford High School, which .fields a third grade and two fourth grade teams,” stated a letter from Mr A. G. Petrie, secretary of the Cen'ral Division Executive Committee .controlling junior football, in a letter before last night’s meeting of the Management Committee of the Taranaki Rugby Union. It was aiked that a grant be made towards the travelling expenses incurred by the lower grade teams in tile division. The chairman, Hon. Jas. McLeod, said it was ra her unfortunate that the central division junior clubs were losing the gates, which they received when garnet "were played on Thursdays. However, it was impossible to discriminate between junior clubs in the province. He hoped that with the Saturday half holiday gates would increase and the clubs would be reimbursed to some extent. Mr F. J. Nolan said the union was getting £9 for affiliation feet, and the executive 'thought some as?|istance might be given. The executive, he said, had no money to pay for printing of fix ures or for hire of a meeting room. Mr McLeod said the expenses mentioned were genuine charges and the un’on would pay them.
