I OCCUPANTS’ NARROW ESCAPE Early Morn ng Cutbreak At Finnerty Road A farmhouse- at FinnerTy Road, occupied by Mr 11. Gornhoefer, wat destroyed by ilie at an early hour thismorning. The 'come ns were completely lost, only a few personal effects being saved. Mr Gernhoefer, who lived alone, lit a lire in a fireplace that had not been used for some time, and when he retired to rest everything appeared to be safe. Shortly af er 3 a.m. he was awakened by smoke and Jie noise of the dames and he escaped in his night attire. Hd secured tho assistance of a neighbour, Mr J. T. S_ed, but n i was too late to do anything. He suffered his greatest loss in the destruction of curios and mementoes of his service in the South African War and the Great War. i Details of \hc insurance were not j available to-day. ! The flames were seen from St ratI ford, and the Stratford Brigade station s’.aff, Firemen G. Buckley, 11. I Keller and A. Fawcett turned out. but | when it was seen that the lire was I well outside the borough the alarm | was not given. I
