Lindsay in forwarding a i plea of guilty to four charges of • breaches of the motor traffic regulations preferred in the Stratford Magistrate’s Court this morning. On a charge of negligent driving ■ the Magistrate, Mr W. 11. Woddward, | ordered the cancellation of defendant’s license for six mon.hs, and; on. | a charge of giving false information jto the police, Lindsay was fined £5 (costs 10s). Two further charges of tailing to keep to the left, and failing j to give information, were withdrawn. I Sergeant C. M. Anniss said that on Ajpril 21 Radich, a local taxi driver, parked his car in front of a restaurant in Broadway about 11.30 p.m. When Radich returned he found that his. car had been moved and was damaged. Defendant, when located at Midhirst, told the police that his car was outside the Ngaere Flail until 2 a.m., and had not bqen moved. He denied all knowledge of the matter, bu.t when next interview- | ed he admitted colliding with Radich’s i car when travelling on his wrong I side. I In reply to the Magistrate, Sergeant i Anniss said the police had no inforj mation as to defendant’s sobriety on j the night of the collision. He denied having had any liquor,. Vehicle License Insufficient. Douglas Melville was fined 10s (costs 10s) for operating a heavy 4 motor vehicle insufficiently licensed. : Mr Percy Thomson, for defendant, f.aid there were two slag boats at New Plymouth and as there was a shortage of trucks, the Railway Department insisted upon trucks being unloaded without delay. The breach occurred only on the one day. Pedestrian Crossing Obstructed. Fw parking on a pedestrian crossing in Broadway, R. J. Kehely, chj.rg ed on the information of the Borough Inspector, Mr A. E. .Sayers, was convicted and ordered to pay costs 10s. The case was brought .as a warning and a heavy penalty was not asked for, Mr Sayers said.
