INFANTILE PARALYSIS

Three New Cases in Taranaki Three new cases of infantile paralysis occurred in Taranaki at the week-end. Two three-year-old children living in different parts of Moturoa were admitted to the New Plymouth Hospital yesterday. A Kaponga boy, aged 14, was admitted to the Hawera Hospital on Saturday afternoon as a suspect, and his case has since been diagnosed as positive. His brother, aged 12, was admitted on Thursday. A woman, aged 38 years, from the suburb of Somerfield, died in the Christchurch Hospital late on Saturday night from paralysis. She was admitted earlier in the evening with a paralytic fever. An earlier case occurred in the same household but the patient is making good progress. A child aged two and a half years has been admitted to the Christchurch Hospital as a suspect. Two cases admitted on Friday have been diagnosed as positive. Another case of paralysis, the second at Wanganui, was notified on Saturday, the victim being a boy, aged two years, from Castlecliff. The case has been diagnosed as positive but in a mild form. , Two suspected cases of paralysis were admitted to the Wellington hospital yesterday. One is a girl, aged eight, from Plinunerton. The other is a girl, aged 10J from the city.
