EMPLOYMENT OF GIRLS
None For Domestics At a meeting of the Christchurch Girls* Vocational Guidance and Employment Committee it was reported that during the period March 10 to April 6, although owing to the Easter vacation there were only 18J working days, 466 people had been interviewed, and 45 girls had been placed in Permanent work, states the Star, Sun. During this period the register had Callen from 68 to 25 girls, none of whom sought domestic «work. Difficulty was being experienced in finding girls suitable for positions in factories, but it was even more difficult to find girls for domestic work. Twenty-five good positions were av'aiting efficient workers. Of the girls who had left school at the end of 1936 without reporting to the vocational guidance office, only one of those communicated with required assistance in finding work. Most of the others who replied -were continuing their education at the Trainin* College or at a commercial school.
