HOLY TRINITY CHURCH
j YEAR OF PROGRESS Reports For Presentation To Parishioners’ Meeting “‘The various reports this year mako vtry cheerful reading, as they show an advance in every direction,” states the report of the Vicar, Rev. K. J. McFarland, to be presented to the annual meeting of parishioners at the Parish Hall to-night. The Bishop of Waiaptt held a Confirmation Service in the church on October 25, at which 68 young people were confirmed and plso 15 adults at a private Confirmation held afterVi'ards. Tha. same old problem, continued the Vicar, has cropped up again, though happily not to the same extent as in previous years; in spite of careful preparation a large number of those confirmed are very irregular in making their communion and some seem to have lapsed altogether. To me, one of the most encouraging features of the year has been the increased number of regular communicants. Allowing for the fact that lact year there were two Easters, there has an increase of over 200 iu the number of receptions at Holy Communion. The parish barometer, with last year’s figures given in pareatheaes, showed: Baptisms 45 (39); marriages 28 (16); confirmations 83 (69). The Parish was in the happy posii Mon 'this year of having oversubscribi ed each one of the three missionary ■ quotas. The amounts were: Bioard I of Missions—£6s (quota £56); Homo I Mission—£23 48d (quota £22 10a); I Mtaori Mission—£3s Is lid (quota i £33 15s). The Birthday League v.as still growing and had over 160 members, with a credit balance of over £5. The league was the first step 'towards a new church, -and each member undertook to give on his or her birthday a present of a brick (or bricks) to the | new church. The price of a brick j was fixed at one shilling. St. Mary's School. . j Stratford both as a town and a pari ish has a greut asset In St. Mary’s j School. Under its pres nt HeadmitI tress, Miss Wilson, the school has j maintained a high educa ional stand, j ard and a fine cultural tone. It can- ■ not, of courte, compare in numbers I with the other schools in the to. 'n i but i s educational r cord last year | will .take a lot of beating. One girl wa s entered for the matriculation exi amination and passed; four were enI tered for ths School Certificate tnd three passed; five were entered for the Intermediate Examine ion and four pass d. When it is born in nrind that the school roll for all grades js forty-seven, these figures speak for themselves and are a record that (any j school could be proud of. The musi- ! cal examinations maintained the same I high standard, and a whole class of I twenty-five girls pissed the Red : Cress Home Nursing Examination. ; nearly all of them receiving honours ' certificates. j Churchwardens’ Report. J We can again, with pleasure, report j a year of steady progress. All services’ have been 'Well maintained and attended. The country districts are show, ing increasing enthusiasm due to the solid conscien ious work of our Vicar. i The year has ended with a small I debit balance, but there is a decided I improvement on the year’s working,, The “Golden Offering" thi s year show, ed an improvement, netting over £lOO. Tile big expense during the year of re-roofing the church was met by special donations. In this connection would record our appreciation of the effort of Mr W. E. Williams. who alone collected over £5O. The "Trinity Sunday" festival was an unqualified success, almost 150 communicants attending the breakfast. Again 'We extend thanks to all (hose who assisted to make the : "br: akfast" the success it was.
