“Salute The Valiant.” The . Duke of Windsor plays the i star role in a film which the ClanadI ian Government, as sponsor, has just ' decided to release. The picture, I which was. 'taken before the abdica- ■ icn, is called “Salute the Valiant’ i and centres on th. a Viniy pilgrimage , by Canadian war veterans last summer. i The abdication placed the Govern--1 ment in a. quandary over its release, but after months of considerin' ion the date of the premiere has been fixed for this mon.h. The intension of the film, "‘ihotf” by Federal Government photographers, is to dramatise the return of Canadian troops from France and to perpetuats 'the memory of <the part they played in the war. Au hentic scenes were taken at Vimy, others in Paris and elsewhere. Th? Duke of Windsor’s performance is described as a “conspicuous success.” In the words of a Government photographer, “he steals the show.” Member s ttie Canadian Government who had a pre-view declared, “The Duke’s irresistible personal! y is emphasised by the camera.” In the opinion of experts the film is destined -to be the sensation of the year in Canada.
