SNOW ON EGMONT

Good Conditions For Ski-ing

This morning during intervals of sunshine Mount Egmont presented a striking sight in its winter mantle, the snow extending down to the Maunganui Gorge. At the Stratford Mountain House this morning there was about an inch and a half of snow, but this was Later washed away by sleety showers. The caretaker, Mr J. Carryer, informed the “Central Press” that there was a considerable fall on the Plateau, but cars would probably be able to reach the Plateau to-morrow. To-day it was not possible to go beyond the Governor’s Cutting. A party of Stratford Mountain Club members went up this morning and good ski-ing conditions were experienced on the ground.
