Law Against Perfume.
The Duchess of Kent ha?. 1 a favourite perfume iv.hich is specially made for her from wild flowsrs and moss, and reminds one of forest glades in summer, says an exchange. This perfume was invented in the six*renth cen J ury, and was also a favourite with the Duchess of Kent’s great-aunt, the Empress.' Marie of Russia. Talking of perfumes in 1770, a bill was Introduced into Parliament, which read as follows: “All women, mdieither virgins,, maids or widows, that impose upon or betray into matrimony any of Hi s Majesty’s subjects by the use of scents shall incur the penality of the law now in force against witchcraft.” The poor bachelor to-fay has no such protection!
