GIFT AFTERNOON
Bride-to-be Entertained at Delightful Party.
Mrs. S. Porritt and Miss Manu Porritt, of Opunake Road, gave a delightful “bathroom” and “blue” gift afternoon on Wednesday for Miss Hone Penn, who is being married shortly. The drawing-room was artistically decorated with beautiful pink roses, gerberas and Michaelmas daisies. Mrs Porritt wore a handsome black lace frock over silk, with scarlet flowers at the corsage, and Miss Porritt looked smart in a frock of silk ninon in pale pastel shades of pink, blue and cerise. Miss Penn, of honour, had chosen an ensemble of dark Cobalt blue. Amongst those present were: Mesdames W. H. H. Young, G. Hall, O. Curtis, Ch. Penn, G. Clarke (Waverley), H. Graham (Midhirst), R. Curtis, E. W. McCullough, W. Brown, P. Harrison, W. Farquharson, H. North, the Misses M. Malone, J. Hill (Mangatoki), L. Penn, B. and O. Masters, M. Lyons, and N. Thorpe. Some artistic and useful gifts were received by Miss Penn for her new home.
