WRESTLING ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL MEETING. Match Committee to Arrange Early Bout. “We have had a fairly good year, but it probably could have been better had we got the men that we wanted,” said Mr. A. H. Nelson in presiding at the annual meeting of the Stratford Wrestling Association last night.
The balance-sheet showed that a debit of £l/15/- at the beginning of the year had been converted to a credit of £29. Officers were elected as follow: President, Mr. A. H. Nelson; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs M. Urquhart and J. Petrie; committee, Messrs. T. Bulman, J. Jones, S'. Tubby, W. Mills, F. Reader, D. Butcher, and B. A. Fazackerley; auditor, Mr. W. F. Ross; secretary, Mr. G. A. Carter; hon. surgeons, Medical Superintendent Stratford Hospital and Drs. D. Steven and W. P. P. Gordon. When the desirability of giving more first-rate wrestling bouts to provincial towns was mentioned, Mr. Carter said he understood that the New Zealand Association would endeavour to give more preference than in the past to applications from outside the centres. The match committee was instructed to negotiate for a bout at an early date.
