Brencliley said a complaint had been received that accused had be:n sleeping in Victoria Park for two days and two nights and had been dr/nking methjyljated Apparently he "'as in a bad way, as he had pawned his boots for 5s and was on his way to get liquor when he was arrested th.it morning by Constable. Beal. He had told the police that on Saturday he left Kaponga, where he was working. He was an old offender and apparently his trouble v.'as methylated spirits and liquor. He required treatment, as he wat recking of spirits. He hud drunk two bottles of the spirit. Ingram was a painter -and pc.perhanger by trade, but apparently he did not do much work, as when h?. received money ne got into his present condition. In reply to the Bench, accused Laid he had had a sure job at Kapouga, but, unfortunately, he 'took to drinking. “I think it will be a good thing it we send this man to gaol for seven days and allow him to get the spirits out of his syE-tem," said Mr Mctnness hi convicting accused. ! Sergeant Brenchley: It is doing him [a good turn. If -he is allowed to go lon ho <v.'ill only be found dead.
