BADMINTON.
Stratford Club Opening. The opening of the season by the Stratford Badminton Club in the Town Hall was very successful, and the fourteen members who took part in the games enjoyed the sport. Three rounds were played, the final winners being Mrs. C. Ennis and R. Thnrklestone.
In welcoming the members, the president, Mr. W. McKay, expressed pleasure at the prospects for the season, and hoped to see the membership increase rapidly. Reference was made to the loss by removal from the town of valuable old members (Messrs Sloane, Cameron and Boyle), Practice was held in the hall again last night, when there was a good attendance. Some of the new members are showing good form, especially Miss M. Young, whose game for a first-nighter was rc—arkable, and Miss Joyce Willdon’s display attracted attention. Among the men. W. McCullough was prominent as a new player, and K. Pegg showed great improvement.
