Because of the shortage of judges of ihe Native Band Cour,: the Government has decided to recall Judge Ayson, Resident Commissioner at Rarotonga. He will return to New Zealand at the end of June. The pcting-Miniter of Native Affairs,. Hon. F. Langs'one, said to-day that Judge Ayson would be sucexid ed by Mr. S. J. Smith, Secretary for the Cook Islands, for the (time being. Mr. Smith’s duties in the Cook Is lands Department would be carried out by Mr. A. B. Ross, acting-Secre-iary of External Affairs, during th? absence from New Zealand of Mr. C.J A Berendsen, permanent head of the Prime Minister’s Department. »]
