NEW STRAW-COLOURED LIQUID. - SELENIUM OXY-CHLORIDE Will Dissolve Almost Every Substance. Press Association—Copyright. Received 2.5 p.m. New York, April 15. A message from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, states:— The American Chemical Society announces the discovery of selenium oxy-chloride, a straw-coloured liquid capable of dissolving almost every substance in the world. “The exceptions are: glass, platinum, and tungsten. “It has a high freezin gpoint of 65 degrees Fahrenheit. A bottle of it froze in a laboratory and broke. Then, warming, the liquid dripped on to the woodenjfioro and dissolved almost everything with which it came in contact. “It is believed that the discovery will open new industrial possibilities.”
