BONES FOUND IN CAVE
Believed To Be Portion of Moa Leg. Hastings, April 14. Further discoveries. 1 of whalt ‘are believed to be moa bones have been ; made at the caves, Havelock North, | the scene of the openations of a firm lof lime hydraters. Some months ago, a workman engaged in quarrying alt the deposits discovered a moa’s leg, which was reassembled by Dr. K. E. Crompton for the Hawke’s Bay Museum. The present discovery way made when the bones, which were embedded in lime silica, were struck by a workman’s pick. Two bone fragments were found, eaah about a foot in length, and both fare in an excellent state of preservation. It is thought that they >are from ithe lower portion of the leg, but until expert opinion is obtained this Will not be definitely known.
