STRATFORD’S FOOTPATHS
(To the Editor). Sir, —As a visitor to Stratford' after an absence ot 25 years, 1 am very surprised and disappointed' to see that no effort on the part of the Borough Council has been made to atphalt the footpaths. Surely in the more closely-populat-ed areas this should have been done years ago. When taking a walk along the different streets, I was struck with the neglected' appearance of the footpaths. I pictured, in my mind's eye, the women on a wet day picking their s eps, and in Summer time, dainty shoes covered vlth dust. I learned yesterday that the Borough Council intend to build a Town Hall before attending to such an urgent matter as asphalting the footpaths. 1 sincerely trust that when I again visit Stratford, maybe in 25 years' time, I shall have the pleasure of walking on asphalted footpaths.— I am, etc., “A VISITOR.”
