BOWLING SEASON ENDS.
Stratford Club. The official closing of the summer .eason of the Stratford Club was held on Saturday, when President’s Day was observed, the President. Mr H. Summerfield, and' Mrs Summerfield entertaining members, of whom about 5.0 were present. The game for the afternoon was A section against B section, on the basis that tho losers contribtued to wards the cost of another consignment of Queenstown “weed’’ for planting in the green. In a closely contested anid thoroughly enjoyable game A section won by nine points (123 to 114, though a couple of rinks were unfinished at close of play), A collection was taken on behalf of ‘he George V. memorial fund. Kirs Summerfield and her helpers supplied afternoon tea. Pairs Tournament. A pairs tournament, at ithe weekend was won by Skip R. Marsh (3J wins), Clark being runner-up with 3 wins. The winning lead .was Bake (4 wins), the runner up being Hyndman with 2| wins. Twenty players were engaged. A rink from Inglewood (Peters, Eversfield, Curtis, Spurdie (s), were defeated by Ileggie, Feek, Mc Millan, McDonald (s), the home team winning by 20 to IS. A one-day full rink tournanient will !»e held on the green on Saturday, mtries closing on Thursday. AVON SEASON CLOSED. The closing of the Aven Club’s sea =on was. marked by a progressive pairs competition' on S iturd-ay, when 28 players were engaged. T. Balaian won the skips’ sectioi. and: F. Loose had the best, result among the leads. The president, Mr W. Mclnnes, referred to the success or ,the season despite unreliable weather, and to •he loyalty of members, and express ed the hope thait the next season •"ould- be favoured with better weather and even more enjoyable play. Play took place for .the last time in he weekend, but winter bowls will ,5e continued on the green made available for the purpose, it being ex pected to be ready about the end of he month, FITZROY TOURNAMENT. Two West End rinks won all five sanies, in the Fitzroy Bowling Club’s one day tournament 011 Saturday, but Douglass scored 82 po’ints to Boulton’s «S. A Stratford rink (Sullivan. Cur tis, Clark, Smith) won 3 games. Thirty eight rinks competed.
