GOVERNMENT’S ATTITUDE Mr. A. E. Mander’s Final. Statement. Press Association—*>opyrrglit. Wellinglton, April 11. A final statenient to the Press was made last night by Mr A. E. Mender, no-tiring general secretary of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Fed-era; ion, in reference to his protest against he Go’ eri'.menlt’s practice of nidging the efficiency of business methods and the management of industries in the light of secret departmental reports not disclosed to the firms upon which they are made. Mr Mander said he felt he had performed a. public duty by drawing att.emtion to the pos s, ’on. He would isk the Minister of Industries, and Commerce to answer two questions. Firstly, did the. departmental oifi,cers report on the efficiency *)f business methods and management of particular businesses and industries. Secondly, were such reports disclosed to Ithe firm reported upon? Would the Minister answer wi.h a plain “yes” or “no?”
