TAUPO FISHING.
Excellent Catches at Present. Press Association—Copyright. Wellington, April 11. A telegraphed report received yesterday from Taupo by Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. W. E. ?arry, stated:— •‘There is excellent fishing at Taupo at present. One angler at Waitahanui on Friday morning took eighlt fish of an average weight of 71b., the heaviest being lojib ta*ken on the fly. The condition of the fish is re markably good. Reports from the Tongariro River show /hat there is a fresh run of fish being aken in the vicinity of the hatchery.” The Minister said Ithe information would delight anglers. Critics who had declared that t.he fishing in the Taupo district had not thia * pason come up to expectations would he felt sure, be pleased with the catches and the condition of the fish now reported.
