CASES IN HAWERA HOSPITAL.
A positive case If infantile paralysis from the Otakebo district was admitted to the Hawera hospital on Tuesday afternoon and a suspect from Manila was admitted yesterday. Both patients art/ boys. The number of patients at present isolated at the hospital is four. The Maori girl admitted during Easter was reported last night to be progressing well, and the second child from Normanby was In much the same condition as when admitted on Sunday. ■, ' The Olakeho child became ill on Monday and was attended on Tuesday by Dr. 11. D. Cameron, of Hawera, who Immediately orderd his removal to the hospital, where he was admitted in a condition that suggested meningitis or probably infantile paralysis. The Health Officer, Mr. Gooding, of Eltham, reported last night that the child’s family had been isolated and that if the case proved positive it was. probable the fchool would be closed. '- He considered theiepldetnlo in Taranaki should not cause undue alarm, for there were more than 300 cases elsewhere in the Dominion. A short period of cold weather should diminish the outbreak.
