HOUSING CONTRACTS.

Co-operation by Unionists Press Association —Copyright. Auckland, April 7. A .satisfactory understanding be tween Mr J. A. Lee, Parliamentary Under-Secret’ary in charge of Housing, and representatives of the trade unions concerned in housing has been reached as the result of a conference he held With the Auckland building trades housing committee to day. Mr Lee answered a number of criticisms and explained the arrangements under which it is suggested that groups of trade unionises shall take up co-operative contracts for the erection of houses. He also gave an undertaking that the spirit of all awards would be observed on contracts under the housing programme. The committee decided to continue its endeavours toward the formation of a building trades federation, one of the objects of which would be to cooperate with the Government.
