Confusion of Bank Notes. Press Association—Copyright. Himilicn, April 7. A costly mistike was made in Hamilton by a KaivAii pettier. He received two £5O notes in exchange for a cheque which he cashed. He later went to a Ham Iton restaurant for a meal, and tendlt re d what he thought was a 10/ note in payment, receiving a few shillings I'.hunge. When passing through Te Awamutu on his way home he discovered that he had apparently given a £5O note in mistake for a 19/ note. He rang the firm which had issued the cheque, and a representative immediately canvassed the restaurants of the own in search of the missing £5O note. He w|as unsuccessful'. The proprietor of ora shop where (he settler thought he had had the meal told the caller that he had given several 10/ notes.' out in change. The settler returned to Hamilton in the evening to continue the search that had been made on his behalf. The number of the note was known.
