INFANTILE PARALYSIS
Cases in Canterbury Area. Press Association —Copyright. Wellington, April 7. Four new cases of infantile paralysis have been repor.ed to the Health Department in Canterbury. The Medical Officer of Health, Dr T. Boyd, said he did not think theie vqas any cause for undue alarm and \hat in the light of past experience there should be a Eubstantial improvement within the next two weeks. The outbreak vi'as petering ouifhe added 1 , and such -spasmodic waves as the present one were largely due to the hot weather. With the approach of colder weather :here were grounds.’ for a more optimistic outlook. The four cases reported are a girl aged? 2J from WoolEtion, a boy of 12 from Sydenham, a boy of 11 from New Brighton and «a girl of seven from Linwood. The Woolston girl and the Sydenham boy have been in the Christchurch hospital for tome time and have just been diagnosd as positive cases. The other two are new notifications, and are positive cpses.
