“PADDED HAIR.”
The New Mode. Women’s hats in 1937 will break Hit on entirely new lines. The most startling innovation will not be in lats themselves, but in ’.he hair on which they will perch precariously. Tor “padded hair” is the latest mode (says a London writer). The hair will be padded on the rides to give it a puffed-out effect. Phis will not be like the old “bird’s lest” style of padding. There will still be a slick modern hair-line off :he face and the puffing will simply ae to support the new spring hats, which will look more than ever to be □n the point of falling off. The other principal new fashion will be a real revival of the Edwardian straw “boater.” These will make use of the “built-up” hair. They will perch over one eye, showing all the padded hair on the side and the puffed curls at the back. They look ike round satin cushions, complete with little covered buttons to give Hie padded effecJt. It is claimed that the way they ’rame the face is flattering to 18 and so; A veil will not be something to cover the eyes this spring. Oldfashioned spot veiling will be used draped over the top of small “cinema” hats, perched on the back of the head, and twisted under the chin.
