NATIVE COLLEGE DESTROYED.

Press Association—Copyright. April 2. Waerengaahika, a Native college seven miles from Gisborne, was destroyed by fire this afternoon. The blaze was. first noticed at the rear of the building by a member of the do mestic staff who called the teachers and pupils from agricultural work on the school farm. Teachers and pupils returned, but the flames had a good hold. Some furniture was saved, but the college records Were burned. There are 31 pupils, none of whom was injured. The building was erected in 1890. It was insured for £5OOO. Mr. E. P. Laseion is the headmaster.
