SPANISH NOTE

Spain has sent la Note tn ibe British Foreign Office di awing attention to “irrefutable evidence of the presence in Spain of a Large number of Italian troops.’’ The Note is accompanied by photographs, including one of a. telegram from Signor Mussolini during his Libyan tour, (allegedly encouraging lhe Italians, two letters on the stationery of the. Italian War Ministry, also a communication from the Fascist Grand Council greeting “fifty thousand comrades in Spain.’’ The Note (asserts that Italy has a*> numed in Spain th© attitude of a belligerent Power. “There exist on Spanish territory complete iitmthe Italian Army which are acting as if they were the real army of occupation.’’ the Note says. It alleges Italy hias virtually invaded Spain and seeks British and French assistance in bringing the matter before the Non-Intervention Committee. The Daily Telegraph’s diplomatic correspondent says the committee will probably decide that the matter does no fall withih its compenence as charges of foreign invasion can be dealt v.'Lth only by the League of Nations.
