Involving nearly £lOO,OOO, on& of the largest real estate deals in the history’ of Christchurch has been completed. Four separate building blocks have been sold, two on High Street and two on Hereford Street, forming a corner property. The purchiasers are Woolworths (N.Z.) Limited, who intend to erect a large departmental store for their Christchurch business. The High Sreet properties were owned by W. R. Cooke and Son Limited' and the McKenzie and Guscott Trust. The Hereford Street properties are the Mercantile Chambers', originally owned by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency jCbm|pany Limited, and the Hereford Chambers. The Mercantile Chambers rvi*ere owned by Messrs-. A. F. Carey, F. W. Freeman and: W. R. Carey and the Hereford Chambers were owned by Mr W. H. Marley.
